During my time teaching and talking photography, there has been one comment that has come up a hundred times more than anything else, “I just want to learn to use my camera and take better photographs.”
After hearing people say that so much, I decided to build a massive website that offered free photography tips, downloadable products to help the masses improve their photography, and offer educational workshops for hands on learning experiences.
So, who am I, and why should you listen to me?
My name is David Johnston and I have been a photographer and a photography instructor for multiple years now. My experience began with film cameras with which I was able to learn how to shoot completely in manual mode. Later, I switched to a DSLR and thus began my obsession with photography. I began reading and sharing any photography information I could get my hands on. So, I want to give my photography knowledge to you like I wish someone would have for me.
When I’m not working on articles and podcasts for Photography Roundtable, I’m out shooting trying to capture never before seen light in amazing landscapes. I also write for Ian Plant’s blog, Dreamscapes.
David is also a photography workshop leader, frequently leading visitors in his favorite park, Great Smoky Mountains National Park, as well as other locations around the United States.
