Smoky Mountains Spring in Bloom Photo Workshop
Where: Townsend, Tennessee
When: April 24-26, 2015
Class Size: 10
Registration: If you have any questions or wish to register, please email David Johnston (firstname.lastname@example.org).
Join renowned photographer, David Johnston, on a three-day exploration of Tennessee’s Great Smoky Mountain National Park in the Spring. The Great Smoky Mountain National Park is the most well-known park to David since he lives in Tennessee. This will be David’s 5th year photographing the park. We will be shooting some of the best spring color in the United States. There is not a shortage of things to photograph in the park!
Throughout each day, David will help you reach your full photography potential by helping you develop your technical photography skills, as well as your creative vision for photography. You will be taught composition strategies, how to shoot in dramatic light of early morning, sunsets, and even night photography. During any downtime during the day when light isn’t particularly interesting, David show you different post processing techniques that will help you take your editing skills and your overall photography to the next level.
Even though we will go over post processing, the focus of this workshop is to work on your photography in the field. That means we will be spending the majority of the time shooting outdoors. With that in mind, it should be known that we will remain flexible due to the uncertainty of weather. Here is a tentative schedule that we will be going by during the workshop:
Day 1 (April 24): Arrive at our home base hotel (see below) for a meet and greet. We will then head out for a night photography shoot to try to catch a glimpse of the amazing Smoky Mountain starry sky where we will cover shooting still stars, star trails, and possibly the Milky Way.
Day 2 (April 25): We will have a busy day shooting sunrise and sunset in various locations while shooting some waterfalls and spring color as light permits. There will be some additional shooting and classroom time in between as weather and light permits.
Day 3 (April 26): We will wake up early again for some sunrise photography in tremendous light. After sunrise, we will take a short break so we can check out of hotels in plenty of time. Then, we will head to a couple more locations depending on lighting and weather situations. The workshop will conclude at 4:00 PM.
